- The FamilyWize® cards enables people to receive discounted pricing on prescription drugs. It can offer immediate savings on prescription drugs at participating pharmacies for people that have no health insurance; or for prescription medicine not covered by health insurance, Medicare or other benefit plans. This is not health insurance, nor is it intended to replace insurance. Anyone can use it; there are no age or income restrictions.
- Simply present the FamilyWize® card with each prescription at a participating pharmacy at the time of purchase. Your cost will be the discount price with the FamilyWize® card, or the pharmacy’s usual and customary retail price, whichever is lower. You can save an average of up to 30% or more.
- The goal of the FamilyWize® partnerships is to reduce the cost of medicine by $100 million. The savings is provided by the 53,000+ participating pharmacies that have agreed voluntarily to accept prices that are close to the prices they make available to large insurance companies and employers. - Any organization who distributes information to at-risk populations can request these cards to be put on display. The cards come in packs of 100 with an attractive display holder. Simply call 715-421-0390 to receive these cards for your business or organization.
Press Release, March 25, 2011: Free Prescription Drug Discount Cards Available at United Way Of Inner Wisconsin
- United Way of Inner Wisconsin is distributing free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards. Since the program has been initiated in 2009, the cards have helped south Wood and Adams County residents save over $30,000 and 31% on prescription drug costs.
- “At United Way of Inner Wisconsin, we care about the health of local residents who may be going through a difficult time,” said Tari Jahns, United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s CEO. “Some people are losing their jobs and can’t find work, and they are also losing benefits when they need it the most. Some people are having to choose between prescription costs and other bills like rent, utilities or even food. Still others have prescription insurance, but it doesn’t go far enough. When people skip their prescriptions it impacts their health greatly and causes more problems later down the road. Programs like the FamilyWize prescription drug discount card can help make prescriptions more affordable.”
- The FamilyWize prescription drug discount card is for individuals and families who do not have prescription insurance; or who are underinsured. It is not health insurance, nor is it intended to replace insurance. Anyone can use it; there are no age or income restrictions.
- To use the FamilyWize card, simply present it with your prescription at a participating pharmacy at the time of purchase. Your cost will be the discount price with the FamilyWize card, or the pharmacy’s usual and customary prices, whichever is lower. There is no application process or pre-qualification to use the card.
